Somehow, the number of people becoming financial planners seems to be exponentially increasing beyond control. Suddenly, I find that many of my friends are in that line! It is not a bad thing, I mean its their job and their way of earning their keeps BUT (there is always a 'but') sometimes they get a little scary.
Disclaimer: I am not referring to any particular person so PLEASE do not be offended.
I am surprise-ly happy when longtime friends call me up or want to meet up to catch up but I do not like the idea of them slotting in their job scope into the conversation. I don't mind you talking about your job and how it is like but I do not like you trying to sell me the idea, repeatedly. I have just graduated from school after 16 torturous (mostly) years of studying and I haven't rested enough but I'm being pushed to start working already. I do not need or want to think about my future yet. When I want to start thinking and making plans on that, I will go look for avenues thank you very much. They irritate me much because I don't like conversations between friends to have an agenda, other than catching up. And just because you have a job as a financial planner does not mean that it sort of give you an excuse to 'catch-up' with friends and conveniently launch into some preach-like trance (no offence to any religions on the use of the word). I like my friendships to remain sweet and simple. Period.
