Doing invigilation at the 4th university (I shall not name anything lest I invite trouble upon myself) does not particularly raise my perceived notion of the calibre of the students there. I have no particular dislike or strong discrimination against students there for any personal reasons but seriously, their attitude towards taking examinations just turns me off totally.
Bad examination habits of students: - refusal to read instructions carefully before and after they start/stop writing - tear off pages from the answer booklets and question papers when they are not supposed to (would not have happened if they would spend 2 minutes reading the damn instructions! not as if they are capable of coming up with fantastic answers in that 2 minutes) - plunge right into answer-writing immediately after reading the question, resulting in them cancelling their sentences more than adding them in - wander into the exam venue like ghosts, not knowing where they were seated (how hard is it to check the seating plans pasted outside?)
And of course, there are the few dumb ones of the lot who think that they can get away with cheating. Seriously, it is just an examination. If you can't do it, you can only blame yourself for not studying enough. If you don't have the capability to be studying that much, then stop. Don't resort to underhand methods of getting the diploma or degree. On top of that, the students are rude and have no regards to rules imposed upon them (resulting in the uni admin treating them like kids, rightly so I would say). I don't think I can ever finish my grievances and growing exasperation at the intelligence level of the students. I admit I may be a little too harsh in judging them and I know that not everyone fit my bill of the 'bad examination student candidate' but at least I have a larger sample size of thousands.
For those in my msn contacts, this sort of nicely explains my nick. So, don't try to give me lesson about how I should think and how I should not be so mean and discriminatory towards others. Try being my shoes, looking over those students doing their exams and maybe you will feel worse.
