The previous survey was for one of my term papers. Now this question I'm going to ask is for my own curiousity.
In a country, what do you think is the most important area to take control over? a) Foreign affairs/relations b) Economic planning c) Internal security/police d) Defence
There is no right or wrong answers. The only thing that will be reflected would be how safe and pampered all of us in Singapore are. I think I can expect all the answers I'm going to get.
Anyway, just to say something about my lovely country. During one of my lectures, my lecturer was telling us about his experience with a woman who had lived in East Germany during the Cold War period. According to the woman, East Germany was not as bad as it was depicted. It wasn't the situation of handing out rations all the time or people starving. What it lacked was vibrancy in consumer goods. All commodities were available, just that there was no variety or choice for the consumers. So, when the Berlin Wall was finally broken, she left her town for the first time for further studies and she was absolutely astonished by the vibrancy of the world outside. West Germany to her was colourful and nothing like she had ever seen. As she travelled, the other countries continued to amaze her further. London was even more colourful than she could ever imagine. Eventually, she got to Singapore. Oh my, the only comment she had was, 'it was like going home.'
