After I gave one of my customers a shock when I told him I don't even read Straits' Times, I decided to start reading the newspapers again today. Surprisingly, it is not as bad as I thought. Not as dreadful as the feeling I had when we were forced to read it during our Secondary school life. Well, I found out quite a few things today.
1. 12 Sept was the day when the Japanese officially surrendered after their 3 years of torturing the citizens. 2. There was a typhoon which struck China. 3. The First Lady of the US does not use sophisticated language as she describes the criticism against Bush regarding the Katrina action as 'disgusting'. I think I can easily think of better words to substitute for it. 4. People like to give typhoons and hurricanes names.
I was more fascinated by the naming of typhoons and hurricanes. I wonder why. Does it make any difference if we name them? Are they trying to personalise the different typhoons and hurricanes that strike the different places? What is the point? Maybe they are named so that they could be refered to more easily but I still think that it is kind of weird. Are we supposed to treat them like humans or something? Maybe we should, considering it is like the wrath of Nature. I think I'm rambling away. Think I'm like too bothered by all the readings I have to do. I'm so going to die... Again. Hah.
