Today while I was watching Animal Planet, something that the narrator said remain stuck in my head till now; "Survival is actually a matter of patience."
I find this phrase particularly interesting and applies to everyone of us, not only in the case of animals. To survive in this world today, not only does one has to have the wits and capability, he always has to have patience. Without patience, no one will get anywhere and even if one gets somewhere, he will not stay there for long. In the working world, one needs to have the patience to tolerate orders from their superiors and for their talents and ablities to be recognised by their bosses. Without patience, one would be restless and might leave bad impressions on people. In the studying world, in which students have to go to school, students cannot afford to lose their cool or patience with their teachers or they will face dire consequences. Even if teachers are not always right, students will still have to bear with everything until they are out of the schools' control. From the above scenarios, we can see that patience and tolerance comes hand in hand. Everything in life is about bearing with others, especially our superiors or with powers we have no control over. Without patience OR tolerance, you will come across to people as an unreasonable, impolite, irritating person which I am sure nobody would want to appear as. Unfortuntely for me, not only do I not have much of patience or tolerance, I'm actually seriously lacking in it. This is proven in terms of my piano practice. My exams is coming in just in a blink of an eye but I really don't have the patience to sit down in front of the piano and try to hone my already lousy skill. My piano teacher has been commenting that the only thing I lack from my piano learning is not the talent, which she aptly assures me that I possess, but the patience. Well, I will have to agree with her because I do know myself and I know that this is a flaw of mine which I have no idea how to improve on. Without the patience, it seems like I'm destined to fail which I am actually quite prepared for, but of course, it's not a good thing. This is why the phrase from the narrator was so apt to me and really was touching my heartstrings. Without the patience, I might really not survive for my piano because, "Survival is really a matter of patience."
