Are you considered dumb or too soft-hearted when you buy things or donate money for people who are asking around on the streets? I often do that. I would buy the things if I have the money, no matter what the thing might be. Yesterday, my soft-heartedness became my weakness again. While I was at Bishan Interchange waiting for my bus, an old woman, hunching very badly and walking very slowly approached me to buy tissue paper from her. I couldn't bear to reject her and so I bought it from her. When she returned me my change of $1, I felt so sorry for her that I gave her that dollar too. So, I donated my last $2 to her... Many people would say that I am dumb. I have been hearing that for ages. People always say that they are cheating and there is no reason for me to be cheated. But what if the person or the organisation really need the money to continue surviving or to continue operating? It doesn't matter if the person is a fraud or not, you will not know. What matters more is that you know that your intention is to do good and you did it. So, if the person really do need the money and you appeared in his 'darkest' moment(well, in a way), it would really mean a lot. I always say, if the person is cheating, then he's evil. But if you are so skeptical of everyone, the people who really need help will suffer..
