Went to the Esplanade to watch the fireworks today. Made a resolution not to attend such festivals again. The place was packed. Even the bridge along Esplanade was jammed and the scene was chaotic. The police could not control the crowd so we were walking and standing in the middle of the road. No cars could pass the bridge and in the end, every driver gave up and came out of their cars to join the crowd in watching the fireworks. It was good actually, minus the crowd that is. But the 5 minutes worth of fireworks is not worth the effort to squeeze with so many people to get a good spot and the squeeze from the bridge to some less congested area. I really think that I'm asking for it. I know for sure that half the population of Singapore will be there but I still went. Haiz.. This is the typical characteristics of a Singaporean. No matter how chaotic we know the situation will be, we will still go because after that, we can boast or complain to others that we went. Haha.. What an irony. But on the bright side, it is really good. It's something special and nice, as compared to those we see in the National Day Parades. Anyway, a suggestion to those who are thinking of catching it tomorrow or next sunday, you should go find someone with a car and drive up to Mount Faber. There will be less people there and you can also see the fireworks equally clear as those who will be squeezing along the stretch of road by the Esplanade and the surrounding areas.
